The current process for the development of environmental viability procedures in Costa Rica is complex and time-consuming, requiring in-person interactions and making it difficult to monitor progress and responsible parties. This creates a significant barrier for companies seeking to establish, operate, and function in the country, as well as for government agencies responsible for overseeing the process. As a result, there is a pressing need to digitize this process in order to streamline its development and provide users with better visibility and tracking capabilities.
As Interaction designer the main objective was to connect with the UX Researcher, translate the information found in the study, and create logical, easy-to-understand flows and frames to be improved and implemented collectively with the UI designer.
Create innovative solutions to intricate procedures and administrative systems that translate the information found in the research process into an intuitive visual interface.
The project involved a comprehensive analysis of UX research outcomes. This process included a thorough understanding of user profiles, needs, journeys, limitations, contexts, business aspects, and design criteria. To ensure a complete grasp of the results, I held regular meetings with the UX researcher. During these sessions, I delved into the research findings, raised queries, and created a comprehensive analysis about the user journey and critical factors.
Through a thorough examination of UX findings and user profiles, I extracted both the Key Business Requirements (KBRs) and user necessities. These insights guided the development of design flows and critical components, ensuring alignment with both business objectives and user needs.
After gathering relevant user and business specifications, I translated them into design requirements. This streamlined the execution of an appropriate interaction approach, ensuring an accurate reflection of the desired experience and objectives. The implementation of these design requirements was customized to meet the identified needs of both users and stakeholders.
During this phase of the Minimum Viable Product (MVP) development, it was crucial to solicit stakeholder feedback to ensure the project was progressing in the right direction. Such a process was significant in addressing any potential issues that may arise in the future.
With the preliminary design in place, I provided guidance to the UI designer for developing the essential assets required for the proper development of the user experience. Thanks to this guidance, the UI designer was able to initiate the development of the design system.
Once we had all the components, we created high-fidelity frames for each user flow, enhancing the overall experience. During my 5-month contract on the project, I balanced my responsibilities with my regular 8-to-5 job. Although I didn’t continue with the project, I contributed to its development during the initial phases.
